Family of personal computers made by Commodore. Check the models page for a list of the versions of the Amiga that was made. Hardware
A Motorola MC680xx CPU.
Custom chips that offload the CPU by helping out with graphics and audio.
256k/512k ROM depending on model that contains the Kickstart OS part.
512k RAM, expandable to 8 MB.
Memory
Chip Memory: The memory that can be used by the customs chips and the CPU is called Chip Memory. All graphic and audio data used by the chips need to be in chip memory.
Fast Ram: The non chip memory is called fast memory as there is no risk for the chips stealing time from the CPU accessing the memory.
